“My journey with the LGBTQ+ and Two-Spirit community did not start a long ago. My son came out as transgender about six years ago and there were not a lot of resources for families with trans kids in the area. And so we eventually started meeting other families that were like ours, and we started meeting in my basement for little get togethers and support. And from that was born the Transformation Project, the non-profit in 2019. We’ve been around for about four and half years and we are just on a mission to make South Dakota a better place for everyone, and we feel like the more inclusivity and the more diversity that is here, the better.

So we’re excited for the future. Like Jack was saying, this was a dream of mine and Maisy has said, you know, five or ten years down the road… but it feels like it’s been ten years!….. This is just the beginning.”
